Two unlikely fighters will be in the ring, May 15th in Salt Lake City, Utah. One of them is 52-year old former heavyweight champion, Evander Holyfield. His foe is none other than former Presidential candidate, Mitt Romney.
Typically, you’d worry about either of these two gladiators in the ring at this stage of their lives. However, this bout is for charity. “It will either be a very short fight, or I will be knocked unconscious,” Romney, 68, joked in an interview with The Salt Lake City Tribune. “It won’t be much of a fight. We’ll both suit up and get in the ring and spar around a little bit.”
Holyfield, who looks as though he still uses his boxing gloves on a regular basis, also made little effort to cover up the real intent of the match. When asked if he would take it easy on Romney in the ring Holyfield responded, “Why not? He’s a good guy.”
The “fight” will benefit Charity Vision, a non-profit that provides resources to eye doctors who work in low-income communities.
