Floyd Mayweather is again undefeated with a unanimous 12-round decision over Manny Pacquaio. The win brings Mayweather’s undefeated career record to 48-0.
The judges scored the fight 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112 for Mayweather.
The bout, which arguably did not live up to the anticipation it received, with the aggressive Pacquaio landing very few punches. Mayweather, known for his defensive skills, was on the top of his game. He was quick and elusive. Although hit in the early rounds Mayweather was very much in control, even taunting by shaking his head when Pacquaio landed shots.
“Manny Pacquiao is still a champion,” Mayweather said. “He still has a lot left. I was the better man tonight — more calculated fighter, took my time, had patience.”
Pacquaio claimed that he was limited by a right shoulder injury and was denied an anti-inflammatory shot before the fight. “It’s part of the game,” Pacquiao said. “I don’t want to make alibis or complain or anything … [but] it’s hard to fight one-handed.”
By and large though the fight was not what many had expected. That is, unless you were one of the fighters or promoters. “Money Mayweather” as he is known, collected some $200 million for the match, while Pacquaio reaped in a cool $100 million for his efforts.
